Pundit and former Rangers man Kenny Miller has reacted to Connor Goldson signing a new deal at Ibrox.
Indeed, it was being reported that Goldson was on the brink of leaving the Gers, but things soon turned around as the defender ended up putting pen to paper to extend his stay in Glasgow, which was recently announced by the club.
And this sudden twist was something that Miller mentioned in the Daily Record (via Ibrox News) as he claimed that he was surprised to hear he had signed on.
Miller said: “When the news from Ibrox made it out here to Dubai, I was as surprised as most Rangers fans.
“But I was delighted to hear Connor Goldson had signed a new four-year deal at the club. It’s a brilliant bit of business.
“It came off the back of Steven Davis extending his contract as well, which is more positive news.
“Those two players are key and maybe Allan McGregor won’t be too far away from putting pen to paper, either. He’s actually over in Dubai as well, so I might grab a word and try and get him to commit as well.
“The Goldson one is huge, though, because he’s been a mainstay of the team for four years now. He’s played 223 games in that time – all of them starts – and the ones he’s missed, you can count on one hand. That’s tremendous value in anyone’s language.”

TIF Thoughts on Miller’s comments…
Goldson had the seventh-highest average rating of any Rangers player this past season, as well as producing some quite impressive defensive stats. Indeed, he averaged 1.2 tackles per game, a team-high 3.3 clearances per game and even averaged the most passes per game with 73.1 (as per WhoScored) – while the reliability Miller alluded to makes it no surprise that his extension is ‘huge’ for the club.
One person who Rangers fans can thank for the defender putting pen to paper on a new deal is Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who Goldson revealed gave him the time needed to clear his head and make the right decision.
