Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that it would be a great move for Jack Butland if he signed for Rangers in the summer.
Current Rangers No 1 Allan McGregor is out of contract and the 40-year-old’s future is up in the air as there has been no sign of a renewal. However, Butland has been heavily linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership side, which could be an indication of an exit for McGregor.
Butland has not featured regularly for Crystal Palace since he signed in 2020 from Stoke City as he has made just 17 appearances in all competitions, so he might be looking for a move elsewhere in the summer to get regular game time.
With Butland linked with a move to Rangers, Bridge has claimed to GiveMeSport that it would be a great move for the English goalkeeper at this stage of his career.
He said: “That would be great for Jack Butland, and it would be a huge test for him in what would be a cauldron of noise. Second is bottom in Scotland, but that is certainly one he should consider at [this] stage of his career to join a club of Rangers’ stature.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…
Butland, who is valued at £1.62m (as per Transfermarkt), has shown in the past that he can perform at the top level, having made nine appearances for England, but he has often had to play second fiddle since his move to Selhurst Park, and this is mainly down to the impressive form of Vicente Guaita, who had the fourth-highest average player rating in the squad last season.
If McGregor does not sign a new deal at Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to hunt for a new No 1, and with Butland being out of favour at Palace, it could be a good move for all parties involved, as the former England international will be hoping to get his career back on track.
