Pundit Barry Ferguson has claimed that at least one of either Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, or Alfredo Morelos will have played their last game in a Rangers shirt.

It looked like Conor Goldson would be departing Ibrox on a free transfer, as his contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and there were no talks of him signing a new deal. But right at the last minute, Rangers confirmed that he has signed a new four-year deal with the club, keeping him in the Scottish Premiership until at least 2026.

Morelos, Kent, and Aribo all enter the final years of their contract, and all three of them have been mainstay’s in the Gers side this season when fit, with them all featuring over 41 times in all competitions this term.

With Rangers’ front three all entering the final year of the current contracts, Ferguson wrote in his Daily Record column, via Ibrox News, that he thinks one of the trio will leave the club in the summer.

“So far, so good for Rangers in this summer’s transfer window. But I must admit, the chances are there will be some bad news coming down the pipeline over the coming days and weeks.

“With Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo, and Alfredo Morelos all entering the final years of their contracts, I’m finding it difficult to believe that at least one of them may not already have played their last game in a blue shirt.

“The Connor Goldson situation was a close call for my old club. They came very close to losing him for nothing and I’m not sure they will want to take a risk like that again with Kent, Aribo, or Morelos,” Ferguson said.

TIF Thoughts on Ferguson’s comments…

It would be a major loss for Giovanni van Bronckhorst if he was to lose one of his dangerous front three, as they were all in the top six for Rangers in the following stats; goal contributions and big chances created, whilst Kent had the second most successful dribbles in the entire league and Morelos had the sixth-best average player rating in the division, as per SofaScore.

Although the Dutch manager would be keen to get all three players penned down to new deals, this does not seem likely, so Rangers might have to let one of them go this summer, so they do not run down their contract and leave for a free transfer at the end of next season.
