Content creator and contributor for Sky Sports Chris Hamill has been reacting to the news that Christopher Jullien looks set for the exit at Celtic.
Reports have emerged to state that the French centre-back is in Germany for talks with Schalke over a proposed season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports News also revealed that the defender will undergo an extensive medical having suffered a serious knee injury in December 2020.
Jullien’s £20k-per-week deal in Glasgow expires at the end of the coming campaign but the journalist claimed that if a transfer does materialise Celtic will trigger a contract extension in order to command a fee come the end of his loan spell.
The 6 ft 4-inch colossus was a regular in the Hoops line-up before colliding with the post having cleared the ball off the line in a 3-0 win over Dundee United over 18 months ago and Hamill is disheartened by how his time at Parkhead appears to be ending.
Would Larsson actually be a good Celtic signing?YesNo |
Taking to Twitter he said:
‘Christopher Jullien is reportedly the 3rd highest paid player at Celtic.
‘Couple that with the fact he’s entering the last year of his contract & you can see why Celtic would let him go for a meagre £1.5-2m.
‘Shame. When fit, he’s Europa League quality. Bargain for Schalke.’

TIF Thoughts on Jullien and Celtic…
Will Josip Juranovic be at Celtic next season?YesNo |
The 29-year-old arrived in Glasgow for £7m from Toulouse back in 2019 and played 62 times for the club but after an emotional return against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup in February he failed to feature again as Ange Postecoglou’s established pairing of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers held down their places in the heart of the league’s best defence.
However, his departure could point to another arrival at Lennoxtown as Joseph suggested and perhaps Manchester City’s Ko Itakura will be their target with BILD (via Daily Express) reporting that the Blues’ decision to bump up their £5m asking price will put off the German suitors.
