Journalist Josh Bunting has claimed that news of Josip Juranovic’s predicted Celtic departure will come as a ‘huge blow’ to the club.

Earlier this week, it was reported by Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that the right-back was now ‘expected’ to leave the Bhoys with a number of clubs chasing his signature.

The same report adds that the Croatian will be subject to plenty of interest from some Premier League clubs, and it seems as though this news could be a bitter pill to swallow for Celtic and their fans.

Indeed, Bunting – who mainly covers Arsenal Women – took to Twitter to offer up his thoughts on the matter, writing: “Huge blow for Celtic, was outstanding last season and key to their title success. No surprise other clubs are tracking him and with bigger budgets at that.”

TIF Thoughts on Josip Juranovic and Celtic…

As Bunting mentions, Juranovic played a key part in Celtic’s success last season – starting the bulk of their Scottish Premiership games as they clinched a domestic double.

Having only signed last summer from Polish outfit Legia Warsaw, fans may well have felt as though the defender was just getting started in Scotland.

Taking all that into account, it’s easy to understand why Bunting has labelled Romano’s latest update as a ‘huge blow’ for the Bhoys.

However, Croatian outlet Germanijak said (via Daily Record) that the player is happy at Celtic for now. A report stated: “Josip Juranovic to the Premier League? Right now – no! As per our sources, Jura is happy in Celtic he plays regularly and in less than a year he (has become a) fans favourite.”

With that in mind, this one certainly looks like one to keep an eye on.
