Podcaster Ryan Fitzsimons believes that Celtic are on the lookout for a left-back signing this summer.
It was recently reported by Football Scotland that Ange Postecoglou is keen on the transfer of Argentina defender Alexandro Bernabei.
Indeed, the article claims that the Bhoys ‘are closing in’ on a deal for the full-back who currently plays for Argentinian outfit Lanus.
While it remains unclear as to how accurate that report is, Fitzsimons has claimed that it does prove that the club are on the hunt for a new left-back.
Speaking on his popular YouTube channel, he explained: “Already this transfer window we’ve been linked with two or three left-backs, which looks as though has amounted to nothing.
“I do believe that we have been keeping eyes on certain players, and I think that the scouts are out there looking for a left-back, and the names we’ve being linked with have probably been on the radar at Celtic.”

TIF thoughts on Celtic and their plans…
Beyond this most recent interest in Bernabei, it does seem as if Celtic have had their eye on a few other left-backs. Indeed, according to a report from the Daily Mail (via Daily Record), the club are considering a move for Francisco Ortega of Velez Sarsfield. On top of that, Fotboll Direkt has linked with Bhoys with a move for AIK’s Erick Otieno.
Taking that into account, it would be hard to disagree with Fitzsimons. And considering the possible targets come from a range of different clubs and countries too, it’s fair to say the scouts have been out and about, weighing up a number of players.
At the moment, Greg Taylor, Boli Bolingoli and Adam Montgomery are all options to play for the club in the left-back position, but Postecoglou seems to have identified that as a spot to upgrade in the near future.
