Journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed that Mohanad Jeahze is keen on a move to Celtic due to his aspirations to play in the Champions League.
Jeahze is a left-back who plays for Hammarby, and there were reports last month that Celtic were in advanced talks with him over a move to Parkhead. However, there has been no official announcement that a deal has been agreed as of yet.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership last season, and have automatically qualified for the Champions League group stages, so they may find sourcing targets in the transfer market a bit easier this summer due to the lure of the luxurious competition.
With reports stating that Celtic are in talks to sign Jeahze, Joseph claimed to GiveMeSport that there is no rush for the Hoops to sign him due to the lack of competition for his signature.
He said: “They know what Jeahze would want. Jeahze is also quite keen on a move to Celtic, he wants to play in the Champions League, obviously.
“But in terms of getting that deal done, if they know the player wants to come, they know he’s not going to command a great fee, they can sit on it for a bit. They know he’s not going to be snapped by others at the moment.”
TIF Thoughts on Joseph’s comments…
It is a smart move from Postecoglou to wait on sealing the deal for Jeahze, as he might be able to get him for a cheap price later in the window given there is thought to be little interest from other clubs, so it seems like the sensible thing to do from the Australian coach.
Joseph’s claim suggests everything appears to be working in Celtic’s favour. The fact that they may be able to relax with regard to bringing Jeahze to Parkhead could benefit them in other areas, too, as Postecoglou may be able to focus on other summer targets in the meantime, and perhaps, the Iraq international will be the final piece of the jigsaw as the Hoops seek to retain their Premiership crown and flourish in Europe.
