BBC Sport contributor and podcaster Dave Azzopardi has predicted that Patrick Cutrone will not feature for Wolves in pre-season after the summer break.
Last term, the Italian striker was out on loan in Serie A with Empoli. That was his third spell away from the Premier League club since signing from Milan back in 2019 (via Transfermarkt).
Taking that into account, some may feel as though Cutrone doesn’t really have a future at Wolves, and Azzopardi certainly seems to subscribe to that notion.
Indeed, while speaking on the Talking Wolves YouTube channel, the journalist made a key transfer prediction about the 24-year-old forward.
He said: “Patrick Cutrone, as well, I think we mentioned him a little bit previously. Italian club Genoa are reportedly interested in signing him.
“He expects to secure a permanent move away from Wolves this summer. I’m not sure if we’ll see him at all during the pre-season campaign.”

In his time at Wolves, Cutrone has only managed to score three times for the club – forcing his way onto the field on just 28 occasions in three years.
Interestingly enough, he matched those exact same stats in the league with Empoli while out on loan last season – scoring three times in 28 Serie A outings.
Having hardly set the world on fire at Wolves and away from the Premier League club, it’s easy to see why Azzopardi isn’t exactly enthusiastic about the player’s prospects.
With Cutrone entering the final year of his contract, it does look as though he will be off soon enough. He has been linked with a move to Turkey, but no offer has come in yet (via Express & Star). Beyond that, Italian media have also linked Genoa with a possible move for the striker.
