BBC Sport contributor Dave Azzopardi has expressed his excitement after seeing Wolves manager Bruno Lage meeting with Haris Seferovic.

With the transfer market soon to open, plenty of supporters will be desperate for their clubs to go out and sign some top-quality players.

With that in mind, fans of the Molineux club would surely have been delighted to see an image of the Benfica forward sitting in conversation with their team’s manager emerge recently.

While speaking on the Talking Wolves podcast, Azzopardi certainly seemed to enjoy the ‘intriguing picture’, even though he remained realistic about what it could mean.

He said: “A picture was leaked online, it came initially from a guy in Portugal and it shows current Wolves head coach Bruno Lage sat alongside current Benfica striker Haris Seferovic.

“Seferovic is a Swiss striker, had a very decent record under Bruno Lage at Benfica when Lage was at the club. So it’s quite an interesting and intriguing picture to see.

Should Wolves sign Haris Seferovic this summer?

“Now, a couple of things to take from this – obviously the first initial reaction when you saw this is like, ‘wow, maybe they’re having talks about Seferovic joining Wolves’. But I’m fairly certain that Switzerland are playing Portugal tonight [Sunday] in Portugal. So the fact that Bruno Lage is there, the fact that Seferovic is obviously going to be in and around the country as well – so it might just be two old friends meeting up.

“But of course… it sounds like Seferovic is open to leaving Benfica. So it does make sense to a degree if it’s about a move possibly to Wolves.”

TIF Thoughts on Haris Seferovic and Wolves…

As Azzopardi explains, Seferovic has worked with Lage in the past. Indeed, in 65 games under the current Wolves manager, the attacker scored 27 times while also claiming 10 assists (via Transfermarkt) – proving that they perform well as a pair.

Last summer, the Premier League club were linked with a move for the player, too, so it’s easy to see why a transfer might be a realistic option in the coming weeks.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

However, just as the podcaster makes clear, it could just be two friends catching up. Even so, it seems as though it may be worthwhile keeping an eye on a potential move for the time being.
