Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Here We Go podcast about Wolves’ attempts to bring in Matheus Nunes.

Wolves are seemingly looking to either simply bolster their midfield department – which saw 35-year-old Joao Moutinho start 34 games in the league last season – or perhaps more worryingly, they could be looking to sign a Ruben Neves replacement.

The Portugal international has stuck by Wolves for several years now from their time in the Championship all the way into the Premier League, but he’s previously admitted that his Wolves future remains unclear.

Romano has claimed that top target Nunes has nothing close to being agreed with Wolves over a potential Premier League move.

“It is true that Wolves are negotiating with Sporting for Matheus Nunes and [it] would be a fantastic signing, because this player is incredible.

Do Wolves need to sign Nunes?

“But I’m told that on the player’s side, still no green light. The personal terms are the big issue and so at the moment, it is a complicated one.”

TIF Thoughts on Wolves targeting Nunes…

If Wolves are able to once again tap into the Portuguese market and use their connections to pull off the signing of Nunes, it would be a sensational move, as Nunes is someone who has been highly praised by Pep Guardiola in the past, as he called him ‘one of the best players in world football’.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

However, it appears that the player is not overly convinced yet about a move to Wolves this summer. Whether that is because of Neves’ potential exit or something such as having no European football remains to be seen, but there does appear to be a lot of work required before this deal gets anywhere near completion.
