Journalist Jacque Talbot has claimed that Matheus Nunes will be someone who is on the radar of Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

Wolves are reportedly one of the Premier League sides that are keen to bring Nunes to England in the summer transfer window, but they face competition from fellow top-flight sides, with Pep Guardiola heavily praising the 23-year-old.

Nunes was a mainstay in the Sporting side last season, making 50 appearances for the Portuguese side, while he still has four years remaining on his contract with the club, so it might take a significant price to lure him away.

With several clubs showing interest in Nunes ahead of the summer window, Talbot claimed to GiveMeSport that Wolves will be amongst the clubs keen on signing him due to the Portuguese links.

He said: “His name has been mentioned with Newcastle, while Manchester United were also linked, so it’s evident they’re making noises as he wants to get a move to the Premier League.

“I imagine that with any Portuguese player involved, Wolves are always going to be amongst it.”

TIF Thoughts on Talbot’s comments…

Wolves had a poor end to last season, as they failed to win any of their last seven Premier League games, which meant they finished 10th in the Premier League, so Bruno Lage will be keen to bring in some new talent such as Nunes in the summer transfer window.

Nunes, who has been described as being ‘too fast’, featured six times in the Champions League last season, so he has experience playing at the highest level and Lage will be hoping to bring in this calibre of player so Wolves can compete for a European place next season.

Ruben Neves has been linked with a move away from Molineux, but if Lage can acquire the services of Nunes, this could show the current Portuguese midfielder the ambitions of the club and persuade him to stay.
