90min football writer Toby Cudworth has claimed that West Ham United are still keeping tabs on Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The journalist was speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast and is expecting further arrivals at the London Stadium off the back of signing Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola in the last week.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT back in May Dean Jones revealed that Brownhill was on David Moyes’ ‘list’ which followed a report from 90min that claimed the Hammers were interested in a move.

The English midfielder was thought to be available for £15m but since then his current employers Burnley have been relegated meaning that the asking price could be reduced and Cudworth has now said that the ‘interest’ is still there.

“Josh Brownhill is one name that’s come up time and time again. We still think that interest is there from West Ham, they will push ahead to sign him but competition emerging from Southampton.”

TIF Thoughts on Brownhill and West Ham…

Would Brownhill be a good signing for West Ham?

No

Dubbed a ‘fabulous player’ by former Premier League midfielder Lee Hendrie, Brownhill joined the Clarets in January 2020 for just £9m and he has gone on to make 84 appearances for the Lancashire outfit.

However, now the hard-working midfielder could well fill the void that has been left by Mark Noble in east London.

The 26-year-old ranked fourth in the top-flight last season for interceptions (64) and averaged 2.1 tackles and 1.1 clearances per game (SofaScore) in the Turf Moor’s rigid structure.

He could be a sound acquisition for Moyes as he looks to bolster his squad in all areas having lost both Noble and Alex Kral ahead of another campaign in Europe and for the right price we may well see this deal materialise.
