Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United are unlikely to sign Gianluca Scamacca despite having an interest in the player.
With the summer transfer market soon to begin, many clubs will no doubt be inquiring about the possibility of signing new players for their sides.
It seems as though the Hammers had identified one individual who could have been a potential target in the upcoming window but the Sassuolo striker looks to be unavailable for the time being.
Indeed, while writing on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex revealed that Scamacca was someone the London outfit were aware of but he seems keener on a move to another Italian club.
He wrote: “I asked around for confirmation of whether we had interest in Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo. The 23-year-old 6 foot 5 forward is someone the club is aware of but have been told the forward wants to remain in Italy. Arsenal have already seen a bid rejected for this reason.
“The forward has already played for 6 clubs and wants to join a big Italian team to cement his place in the national squad having made his debut in September 2021. Top Italian teams are said to be in for him and a move to them is his preferred choice and he wasn’t our first choice target anyhow.”
