Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United could be scouting Joakim Maehle ahead of a possible transfer.

Earlier this week, Denmark beat Austria 2-1 in a UEFA Nations League clash that started 80 minutes late due to a power failure in the stadium. That delay may have caused some bother to a West Ham scout who was apparently at the game.

Ex explained on The West Ham Way podcast that someone had certainly been at the game to view a player, and while it remains unclear as to who exactly that individual is, it could have been the Atalanta right-back.

The presenter said that the Dane is a ‘talented player’ and could have been the reason behind the scouting trip. He began saying: “It’s been confirmed that there was a West Ham scout watching the Denmark v Austria international game.

“There’s also a full-back for Denmark called Joakim Maehle, I think his name is, who also plays for Atalanta in Italy.

“He is highly rated; he can play left-back, can play right-back and is meant to be a talented player.”

TIF Thoughts on Joakim Maehle and West Ham…

In total, Maehle managed 35 games this term, playing across Serie A as well as the Champions League. Playing on either the left or right flank for Atalanta in attacking and defensive roles, Maehle has definitely shown his versatility (via Transfermarkt).

West Ham United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with Felipe Anderson

The Dane, who Kasper Schmeichel called a ‘machine’ after an international display against Russia last summer, helped his country to a win while the West Ham scout looked on from the stands. Indeed, he picked up a 6.5 player rating on SofaScore, playing 66 minutes while operating on the left side of the pitch.

As of yet, it’s unclear if the Hammers do have a serious interest in the player, but it looks as though he could well be on their radar. Any possible transfer rumours will certainly be worth keeping an eye out for in the coming weeks, with his price tag allegedly €18m (£15.4m).
