Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United look set to sign Northern Irish youngster Patrick Kelly.

While the Hammers will no doubt be looking to improve their senior squad with a number of exciting transfers this summer, they also seem to be keen on increasing the quality within the youth ranks. Indeed, West Ham are about to win the race for ‘highly talented’ teenager Kelly – beating the likes of Sunderland for his signature – if the latest update is accurate.

Writing on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex stated that despite rumours, Kelly had not signed just yet, but he will be completing his move in the very near future.

He said: “Despite rumours that he has already signed for us or that he has chosen Sunderland over us, Northern Irish youngster Patrick Kelly will fly into London today [Sunday].

“The player is then expected to complete his move sometime next week to West Ham and be announced by the club too.

“The player is highly talented and will be eager to make the same impression as his fellow compatriot Callum Marshall, who has turned in some impressive performances for the academy this year.”

TIF Thoughts on Patrick Kelly and West Ham…

Still only 17 years of age, Kelly signed a professional deal with Coleraine as recently as October, but will now follow fellow Northern Ireland underage internationals Michael Forbes and Marshall to the West Ham Academy (via BBC Sport).

He featured regularly in the Danske Bank Premiership last term, making 17 appearances, and clearly did enough to impress the Premier League club’s scouts.

Are you happy that West Ham are making these sorts of transfers?

By the sounds of it, Marshall has adapted well to life in England, having joined the Hammers as a young Northern Irishman, so Kelly will hope to settle equally as well over the coming months.
