Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United have an interest in signing defender David Raum.

It looks as though the Hoffenheim defender is a wanted man this summer.

Manchester United are supposedly leading the race for the left-back, despite Newcastle United’s interest.

West Ham have also been linked with a move for Raum, and Ex was able to confirm this news while speaking recently on The West Ham Way podcast.

Indeed, the presenter explained that the club probably are keen on a deal, but his high asking price could make any deal this summer hard to pull off.

He said: “Now, some people are talking about whether there’s interest in Hoffenheim German left-back David Raum.

“I think there probably is interest from West Ham there, but you’re talking about a high price tag, here. We’re talking like £35m.”

Do West Ham need a new left-back this summer?

TIF Thoughts on David Raum and West Ham…

The 24-year-old, who has been called ‘extremely fast‘ by Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen, showed plenty of attacking ability in the Bundesliga last term as he notched 13 assists and scored a further three goals (via Transfermarkt).

With stats like that, it’s no shock to see him linked with a number of Premier League clubs for a fee in the region of that £35m figure touted by Ex.

Of course, while West Ham may well have an interest in Raum, it does sound as if there are plenty of others in the queue for his signature – with some reports claiming he is also on Manchester City’s radar.

Taking everything into account, at this point in time, it doesn’t seem likely that the Hammers will make a move for the left-back, but you never know what surprises the transfer market can throw up.
