Insider ExWHUemployee has stated that West Ham United could make a move for Oleksandr Zinchenko in the transfer market.

In recent weeks, Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Manchester City left-back, but it looks as though they could face competition for the player if this latest report is accurate.

Indeed, Ex has claimed that City are seemingly ready to listen to offers for the player, and West Ham may target him as someone to rival Aaron Cresswell in the team.

He wrote on The West Ham Way Patreon page: “Interestingly, Manchester City have apparently said that Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko would be available for transfer. We have had an interest in both players in the past and so moves for them might be considered.”

He then added: “Another thing we brought was the desire to sign a new left-back to challenge Cresswell. Zinchenko would be the perfect man and his set-plays also rival that of the former Hammer of the Year.

“Now, of course, there will be stiff competition from other clubs (Arsenal being one) and all these top targets are going to be expensive, so we are not suggesting we will sign anywhere near the amount of targets we have, but it was an interesting development.

“The player prefers to play further forward than left-back too, so this could also be a factor in his decision as to who he joins.”

TIF Thoughts on Oleksandr Zinchenko and West Ham…

Zinchenko is obviously a very good player. He proved as much on the final day of the season when he came off the bench to provide a key assist as City came back from two goals down against Aston Villa to win the Premier League title.

However, just 10 starts in the league all season suggest that he is not really a first-choice option for Pep Guardiola, which would explain why he is seemingly up for sale this summer.

With Arsenal also linked, it looks as though he will certainly have some options to consider if the left-back does indeed leave City. As Ex explains, though, his ability to provide backup to Cresswell, as well as playing further up the pitch, could make him an interesting prospect for West Ham.
