Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United and David Moyes have ‘reluctantly’ accepted that a move for Jesse Lingard is now unlikely.

The Hammers seem to have had a long-term interest in signing the former Manchester United man ever since he spent time with the east London club on loan.

And with Lingard now set to be out of contract after the Red Devils announced he would be leaving the club when his deal expires at the end of June, this summer would have been the perfect time to pick up the 29-year-old.

However, it looks as though West Ham will not be the team to win his signature. In a post shared on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex claimed that the Hammers no longer feel as though a deal is likely.

He explained: “Although he [Moyes] is also a huge fan of Jesse Lingard, I think he now reluctantly accepts that Jesse seems unlikely to want to join. Although the door is being kept open.”

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Lingard and West Ham…

In an article for football.london, it was recently claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in Lingard – while it is also thought there is ‘plenty of competition’ for the player, including from clubs overseas.

Perhaps this is why Moyes and co feel as if they will not be able to tempt the player into making a return to the London Stadium as a free agent this summer.

West Ham United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with Felipe Anderson

Having scored nine goals and claimed five assists in 16 appearances during his loan spell with the Irons, it’s easy to see why West Ham would want to sign the player – but it’s also easy to see why he would be a wanted man for a number of other teams.

If the latest update is to be believed, it looks as though this particular ship may have sailed.
