Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United are considering a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
With the transfer market soon to be open, there is plenty of speculation about the futures of many players. The Liverpool midfielder certainly seems to belong in that category, too.
Adding to the rumour mill, Ex has claimed that West Ham may make a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain if they can’t pull off a deal for Jesse Lingard this summer – which may well turn out to be the case.
While speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “There’s also talk about Oxlade-Chamberlain as being [an] alternative to Lingard.
“I mean, he’s a good player, but his injury-proneness would probably make that a bit more of a challenge as well.”
Would Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain be a good signing for West Ham?
Yes
No
TIF Thoughts on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and West Ham…
It is notable that Ex mentions the player’s troubling injury history right away. Indeed, last season he missed 113 days with a knee problem, while his whole career has sadly been hampered by various issues (via Transfermarkt).
However, he also states that Oxlade-Chamberlain is a good player. Considering he has won the Premier League, Champions League, four FA Cups and more during his time with both Liverpool and Arsenal, it is hard to argue with that.
As of yet, it remains unclear as to how serious any interest from West Ham in the midfielder is. However, with a Lingard deal looking pretty complicated, the 28-year-old could be an interesting alternative for David Moyes’ side next season.
