ExWHUEmployee has revealed that 17-year-old West Ham United target Patrick Kelly is nearing a move from Irish side Coleraine this summer, with the player just in need of a medical before an announcement.

West Ham are looking to bolster their squad after one of the best seasons in recent history as they finished seventh in the Premier League as well as making the semi-finals of the Europa League, in what was their first outing in the European competition since the 2016/17 season.

While a lot of the transfer rumours around the Hammers this summer have revolved around the possible departure of star man Declan Rice, they have been looking to improve their squad, with the latest rumour linking them with Coleraine FC midfielder Kelly.

Ex recently revealed on The West Ham Way Patreon page that the 17-year-old’s move to the east London club is close to being completed, with just one more part of the deal left to go before the club can announce his arrival.

He wrote: “Patrick Kelly the Northern Irish youngster just needs to fly over to England to complete his medical before that is announced as a done deal like the Daniel Rigge one, both brought exclusively to this site.”

TIF Thoughts on the potential signing…

While there is not a great deal known about Kelly, he has been highly touted by Coleraine chairman Colin McKendry, who spoke about the future of the young prospect. He said: “Patrick has a very bright future in the game, no doubt about it.

“He’s a great talent and a really good young man. He was in the Northern Ireland Under-19s squad and has a big career ahead of him.”

The 17-year-old managed 29 appearances across all competitions with one goal and four assists last season, helping the Irish side to a sixth-place finish in the Danske Bank Premiership. It is currently not revealed how much he will end up costing West Ham with regard to a possible transfer fee, but taking a chance on a player this young with such promise is surely a no-brainer for the club.
