Journalist Jacque Talbot has claimed that David Moyes deserves to be back in the summer transfer window at West Ham United.

West Ham United managed to finish sixth place in the 2020/21 Premier League season, meaning they qualified for the Europa League where they reached the semi-final, but they failed to build on that season after they dropped one place and finished seventh, which still earnt them European football.

Michail Antonio was Moyes’s only real option up front last season, so it is expected that the Hammers boss will be looking to bring in a new forward for next season, and they have been linked with Chelsea’s Armando Broja after he impressed last campaign with Southampton.

With the impressive past two seasons that Moyes has had as West Ham manager, Talbot has claimed to GiveMeSport that he deserves to be backed financially by the board in the upcoming window.

“It’d be good for them to show a bit of ambition considering what David Moyes has done for the owners and the club in general; I think he deserves a little bit of investment in the summer.

“And it seems like the way he’s been talking up Rice and the contract they have offered him, it probably shows that they’re going to be putting in a fair bit in the summer, I’d imagine,” Talbot said.

TIF Thoughts on Talbot’s comments…

West Ham have had a superb past few seasons after securing European football in each of their last two Premier League campaigns, but if they want to push on to the next level, or become an established European side, then the board might have to back Moyes a bit more than previously shown.

Playing with just one striker who is now over the age of 30-years-old makes it incredibly difficult for any side to compete over the course of a campaign. With this in mind, the Hammers have fared well so we would be interested to see how they geet on potentially with another addition.

Declan Rice has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, but if the club shows some ambition in the summer and make some high calibre signings, then it might persuade the England international to remain at the club.
