Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Christian Eriksen would be a massive signing for West Ham United in the summer.
Christian Eriksen is reportedly being watched by Premier League outfit West Ham after they sent scouts to watch Denmark’s recent game, but they face competition for his signature as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in him.
The Danish international was handed a six-month contract by Brentford in January, and he impressed during his short stint with the club, after contributing with five goals in 11 Premier League fixtures.
Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, O’Rourke claimed that Eriksen would be a massive signing for West Ham, but the Hammers are also keen on bringing Joakim Maehle to the club, with the right-back spot being one that David Moyes is looking to improve.
“They’d be two massive signings for West Ham if they were able to pull off those deals for both players. Maehle is a quality right-back and has been a proven player for Atalanta, not just in Serie A but also the Champions League.
“It’s a position that West Ham are probably looking to improve on with the likes of Ryan Fredericks also leaving the club. So, I think Maehle would definitely be an upgrade on what West Ham have got there right now,” O’Rourke said.

Eriksen was impressive for Brentford in the second half of the Premier League season, he had the highest average player rating at the club (7.54), he had the highest amount of accurate passes on average per game (40) and he made the most amount of key passes on average per game (2.8), as per SofaScore.
The Danish international would be a great addition to West Ham’s squad if he was to join, he has made 49 appearances in the Champions League so has plenty of experience in European football, so he could be important for the Hammers in next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League, as they will look to progress to the Europa League or even the Champions League in the following season.
