Jacque Talbot has shared that he believes Lautaro Martinez is the player who can transform Spurs and take them into the top three next season.
The Inter Milan forward enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, scoring 25 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions. Some may have predicted a drop off without Romelu Lukaku partnering the Argentine up top, but, instead, Martinez has improved his goalscoring numbers.
Whilst links to a Tottenham move are yet to heat up, Talbot believes he’d be the perfect addition to the squad, telling GiveMeSport: “If you bring in someone like Martinez, they’re going to be such a force next year. I truly believe that Spurs will be in that top four, maybe even in that top three.”
It must be said, however, with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, and Dejan Kulusevski to call on, it’s hard to see where Martinez would slot in if all three of the current forwards stay put. Son is heading into next season off the back of a Golden Boot win, whilst Kane’s importance can never be reiterated enough, and Kulusevski has starred since his January arrival.
TIF Thoughts on Lautaro Martinez…
After losing Lukaku to Chelsea last summer, Inter Milan will be desperate to keep hold of Martinez this summer. The Argentine is getting better and better with each season, and, at 24-years-old, still has years left at the top of European football.
Next season, Inter will be hoping to reclaim the Scudetto from their city rivals AC Milan next season. If they keep hold of Martinez, it will certainly be a tightly-contested Serie A season once again.
For now, the striker looks set to stay in Italy, but there’s still a long way to go in the transfer window.
