Dean Jones has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about Youri Tielemans knowing Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him.

It has been reported that Spurs are interested in Christian Eriksen, Tielemans and Yves Bissouma – who they have now agreed a fee for – so it’s quite clear that Conte is desperate to add some depth and competition to the midfield department.

While the signing of Bissouma appears to be getting closer, with a medical expected this week according to Fabrizio Romano, he is a very different midfielder to someone such as Tielemans, with the Belgian international more prominent when progressing the ball, having done so more often when carrying the ball forward than Bissouma by some distance.

Speaking on the midfielder’s next potential destination this summer, Jones claims that Tielemans is aware of Spurs’ interest.

Jones said: “He knows that other clubs, say, Tottenham have got an interest in him too, and if you were posed the proposition of joining Tottenham or Arsenal as a player who doesn’t have an affiliation to either, you’re going to take Tottenham at the moment because it’s just better.

Should Spurs sign Tielemans?

No!

“You’ve got a manager with a better track record, you’ve got a club in the Champions League, you’ve got Harry Kane up front, you look around you and what you’re going to have in that team, and you think, ‘I’ll go and play there, it’ll be nicer’.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

After agreeing a fee with Brighton for Bissouma of £25m, bringing in someone such as Tielemans with a lot of Premier League experience for another low price of £25m would surely be a bargain for those two players.

While signing Tielemans would add some great depth and competition to the options already at Spurs, to also steal a march on their local rivals, who have been linked with the Belgian for some time now, would force them to reconsider their transfer plans while improving their own squad.
