Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur do not see Christian Eriksen as a ‘priority’ as things stand.

With the Dane out of contract currently, there is much speculation regarding his future. Indeed, it seems to be a three-horse race for his signature between Spurs, Manchester United and Brentford.

However, if this latest claim is to be believed, it seems as though Spurs are unlikely to try and sign Eriksen despite holding talks with his agent in the recent past.

While discussing the much-wanted player on his YouTube channel, Romano explained his understanding of the current situation.

The journalist said: “The news I have in the last hours about Tottenham is pretty clear. He’s not a priority for Tottenham as of today [Tuesday].

“So Tottenham had a conversation with his agent, Martin Schoots, a few weeks ago, and after that conversation, no more talks. So there is not an official bid from Tottenham.”

TIF Thoughts on Christian Eriksen and Spurs…

In just 11 Premier League outings last term, the Dane managed to score once and set up four goals while playing for Brentford – so it’s no surprise to hear that the free agent is wanted by a number of teams.

Of course, he spent a large chunk of his career playing for Spurs, making 305 appearances for the club, scoring 69 times while also providing 90 assists.

With numbers like that, many Tottenham fans may well have wanted the midfielder back this summer, but it does look as though the club have opted against making a move.

And with Man United and Brentford seemingly keen on the player, it really doesn’t seem as if a return to north London will be on the cards.
