Journalist Alasdair Gold has explained that Tottenham Hotspur have a current interest in signing Victor Osimhen that began some time ago.

This summer, it looks as though the Napoli man could be on the move, with their north London rivals among those reported by Italian media to be strongly chasing a deal.

However, the Gunners could face a major obstacle in their way if the latest claims are true. Indeed, in an article for football.london, Gold stated that the 23-year-old is on Spurs’ radar and that they even saw him as a potential signing back when he played for Lille – before he made the move to Napoli in 2020.

Gold said: “‘football.london understands another striker on Spurs’ radar is 23-year-old Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who has netted 18 goals in 31 matches for Napoli this season.

“Tottenham considered the Nigerian back when he was in Ligue 1 in Lille and he would now come with a big fee after impressing in Italy.”

TIF Thoughts on Victor Osimhen and Spurs…

Tottenham may well have an interest in the player, but in all likelihood, he won’t come cheap. A figure of €110m (£95m) is what it would allegedly take to sign the striker.

The striker, who was called ‘phenomenal’ by Walter Mazzarri, has 28 goals and nine assists in all competitions since moving to Italy, so it’s easy to see why his form has attracted plenty of attention from clubs in the Premier League.

As Gold points out, though, Spurs have held an interest in the player for some time now, which suggests a deal could be something the board may consider if they want to strengthen their attack in the coming months.

Even so, with plenty of competition for Osimhen’s signature, this transfer doesn’t feel particularly close just yet.

My first choice would be Martinez, oh and Bastoni too, but I don’t think we’ll have much luck from Inter. They don’t like doing business with us.
