Tottenham Hotspur are going into the summer transfer window with an eye on the £31.5m-rated midfielder Yves Bissouma.

This has been suggested by Fabrizio Romano, who has been discussing the possibility of Spurs making a move for the Brighton & Hove Albion star on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel.

Spurs have been linked with a potential swoop for the 25-year-old for a number of weeks, and are said to be a possible threat to Aston Villa, who also have the midfielder on their radar.

Bissouma has now been playing his football at the Amex Stadium for four years and has just one year remaining on his current deal with the Seagulls (via Transfermarkt).

And with his contract a potential reason for Graham Potter’s men to part ways with the Mali midfielder, Romano believes Fabio Paratici has identified Bissouma as an option this summer.

He said: “I’m sure that Bissouma is a player that they’re following because they sent their scouts this year to follow him. But at the moment, it’s not something close.

“Also because on Bissouma, there are really many, many clubs [interested]. So at the moment, the midfielder is not something really close for Tottenham.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Interestingly, the Brighton star has even claimed that he is the ‘best midfielder’ in the Premier League.

We think this would be a great move for the Lilywhites to make this summer with depth needed in their midfield given they are likely to sell Harry Winks.

Would Bissouma be a starter at Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Although Oliver Skipp should return in time from injury, we think Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur could only benefit from the competition provided by a proven Premier League regular such as Bissouma.

And with Champions League football to compete in next season, Spurs need quality in their squad in case they suffer any injuries to their starting XI, and having someone like Bissouma to choose from would certainly provide that.
