Tottenham Hotspur are now really close to completing the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Yves Bissouma.

This has been claimed by insider Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel about all things transfer-related.

Reports emerged on Tuesday morning suggesting an agreement in the region of £25m had been agreed upon with Spurs and Brighton & Hove Albion for the Mali international.

A medical is set to take place at Hotspur Way on Thursday, and despite picking up an injury on international duty, it is expected Bissouma will pass without any issues.

And Romano, speaking on Tuesday, believes the final details are now being discussed between the two clubs, with a deal potentially being wrapped up later this week.

He said: “It’s really close, it’s really close. It’s not completed yet, but they are discussing these hours, today [Tuesday] also, to complete this deal, they have an agreement in place, a verbal agreement in place, with Brighton for Yves Bissouma.

“It’s a deal worth €26m with some add-ons included in this deal, and this is what they are discussing – the add-ons, the payment terms.

“So it’s the final details of this negotiation, but Yves Bissouma and Tottenham are ready to say yes and to complete everything in the coming hours or days, with a medical which could take place this week.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

This appears to be a really impressive addition from Spurs, Bissouma is a player who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool and was even called ‘world-class‘ by Ray Parlour.

And what is even more impressive is the manner in which Spurs have carried out the negotiations, with no real indication a deal was in the works for the 25-year-old.

Alasdair Gold had indicated Bissouma was a player who Spurs had on their radar, however, Fabio Paratici notoriously deals with long shortlists.

There was no real sign to suggest Spurs were making a move for Bissouma, but perhaps that makes the news even sweeter for the Tottenham fans.
