According to Dean Jones, Sergio Reguilon’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is in doubt.

£25.2m-valued Reguilon signed for Tottenham at the start of the 2020/21 season, but dropped out of Antonio Conte’s plans towards the end of this term. Ryan Sessegnon instead featured at left-back as Spurs chased Champions League football, with Reguilon unable to play due to an injury, although he had been in and out of the side prior to that.

Speaking to GiveMeSport prior to the arrival of Ivan Perisic, Jones said Reguilon’s future would be in doubt if Spurs recruited a player in his area of the pitch. He said: “I don’t think there’ll be much of a future for Reguilon. His future is definitely in doubt. If they sign a new left-sided player, especially early on in the window, it’s curtains for him, and you imagine he’ll be heading back to Spain.”

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

The Spaniard, who has been lauded as a ‘superb’ player by Graham Roberts, made 27 appearances in the Premier League last term, and followed that up with 25 outings this season. There was plenty of promise following his arrival from Real Madrid, but he has unfortunately not quite shown the same level as he did when he was previously on loan at Sevilla.

Conte has shown himself to be ruthless, and after securing a top-four finish for Tottenham, Daniel Levy and co may well be willing to give him more freedom in the transfer market. If the Italian decides he no longer wants Reguilon, it is hard to see how he can force his way back into his thoughts, especially now he is likely even further down the pecking order.
