Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici loves Richarlison, however, nothing has happened yet in terms of a potential swoop for the Brazilian.
This is what Alasdair Gold has claimed when speaking about the Everton man on his latest transfer round-up on his YouTube channel.
Reports over the weekend claimed Spurs had entered advanced negotiations with the Toffees for the services of the 25-year-old, with a reported fee in the region of £51m.
However, Gold was quick to dismiss those claims, suggesting Spurs are only showing interest at this stage, and no talks have begun over a potential move.
Although Gold did dismiss the claims coming from Brazil, he did stress that there is definitely an interest from Spurs which could lead to them making a move.
He said: “People were saying, ‘advanced’ and ‘terms agreed’ and all this sort of stuff. And again, I had to come in and say look, from what I understand, Paratici really likes him. He’s another one of Paratici’s list of players he likes.
“However, from what I understand, nothing happening with that at this moment. I’m not saying that it isn’t something that Spurs look at later in the window, because there is interest there – I must stress, there is interest there. But yeah, maybe something for later in the window when they’re kind of looking at the priorities and options.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
We find this a really interesting potential transfer for Spurs. Tottenham desperately need a backup for Harry Kane and we do feel Richarlison could provide strong reinforcement.
Should Spurs spend £50m+ on Richarlison?
Yes
No
Over the last four seasons, Richarlison has netted 43 goals, with a return of over 10 in three of those campaigns with the Toffees (via Transfermarkt).
However, there is a glaring issue in this potential deal for us, and that is the price. Fabrizio Romano has even suggested a deal could be in the region of €70-75m (£60-64m).
We do think Richarlison would be a good option for Spurs to have as a versatile forward, however, for us, these reported price tags are significantly more than what we feel Spurs should be spending on a backup.
