Tottenham Hotspur are the club most likely to sign Christian Eriksen this summer if the Dane does not re-sign with Brentford.
Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking to This Is Futbol ahead of Eriksen’s big decision and has suggested Spurs sit in a good position to potentially land the Dane.
Recent reports suggest the Bees have made Eriksen an offer to keep him at the Community Stadium for next season having spent a short-term spell under Thomas Frank.
However, it is also believed the Lilywhites are keen to bring their former midfielder back to north London after he departed back in 2020 for Inter.
Manchester United have also emerged as a potential landing spot for Eriksen, however, Jones believes a move to Spurs would make more sense than Old Trafford.
He said: “If it’s not Brentford, then it’s more than likely to be Tottenham. So there is the [Erik] Ten Hag link, which is definitely interesting. But there are a few things that need to fall through with Brentford and Tottenham, I think, before he would decide to go to Man United.”
TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
We absolutely agree with Jones in thinking Spurs would make sense for Eriksen who is believed to be wanting to play Champions League football.
Do you expect Eriksen to choose Spurs?
Yes
No
But in the same breath, it would be understandable if Eriksen, who was described as a ‘superstar’ by Pontus Jansson, felt a loyalty towards the Bees and wanted to continue to repay them for the chance they took on him.
However, if it was to come down to purely football, then we think it has to be Spurs for Eriksen with the Lilywhites providing him with a familiar setting and a spot in the elite European competition.
