Insider ExWHUemployee has slammed the rumour that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Manchester United’s out-of-form forward Marcus Rashford, claiming he would be in the exact same position at the north London club.
After qualifying for the Champions League at the end of last season, Spurs have been lively in the transfer market, having already signed former Inter star Ivan Perisic and have been linked to a number of players including Alessandro Bastoni, Christian Eriksen, and Gareth Bale.
The latest rumour has come as a surprise, as it is rumoured Spurs could make a move for Manchester United’s Rashford, who struggled last season with fitness and finding consistent minutes in the Red Devils side under former boss Ralf Rangnick.
However, speaking on The Transfer Show on Patreon, noted insider ExWHUemployee slammed the idea of Rashford signing for Spurs, claiming he would still be in the same position as he is in Manchester given that he wouldn’t push either Harry Kane or Son Heung-min out of the side.
He said: “Tottenham are keen if he doesn’t [stay], which would be interesting, because obviously, he’s not going to displace Harry Kane, so surely he’ll be in the same position as he was there, as he is at Manchester United.”

While a change of scenery could be a good thing for Rashford, signing with Spurs does feel more like a sidestep, or even a backwards move in terms of him finding a starting position, as instead of competing with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, he will be up against Kane, Son, and Dejan Kulusevski, who has impressed since his arrival from Juventus in January.
Last season, the 24-year-old only made 25 Premier League appearances, with only 13 of them coming as starts. In this time, he managed four goals and two assists while only averaging 0.9 shots, 0.3 key passes, 0.8 dribbles and zero crosses per game with a 77.4% pass accuracy, according to WhoScored. This led to him being called ‘absolutely terrible’ by Chris Waddle.
While Rashford could end up making a move away from United, it has been reported that new manager Erik ten Hag is willing to give him a ‘lifeline’ ahead of next season, giving the winger a chance to prove himself to his new manager before he makes a transfer decision. Who knows, with a full summer to recover from any niggling injuries or issues, he could fight his way back into the starting XI and show us the old Rashford.
