Tottenham Hotspur could now be set to lose out on reported target Gabriel Jesus in this summer’s transfer window.

This is according to the Lilywhites reporter Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking about the Brazilian’s future on his latest YouTube video.

Reports have suggested Antonio Conte’s men are showing an interest in the Manchester City striker this summer, with the 25-year-old expected to depart.

It is believed Conte is hoping to bring in a new striker this summer, having played the entire 2022/23 campaign with Harry Kane as the only senior striker in the squad.

And amid recent reported setbacks in their search for a new defender, Gold believes Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal are now expected to win the race for the City striker, who has been valued at around £50m.

He said: “[He] certainly is a player that Spurs like. He’s on their wishlist of strikers, but I get the impression that Arsenal are going to probably get him, and I think maybe that’s just because they can offer him more regular football.

“Whereas at Spurs, I think he becomes a squad player, more so. Whereas at Arsenal, I think he probably starts every week. And that’s, you know, the strength that Spurs have got in those front three now.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We do find it difficult to imagine Jesus leaving City this summer because of an expected lack of first-team opportunities, only to move to the Lilywhites.

Can you see Jesus signing for Spurs?

No

No

Kane is clearly the lead striker at Spurs and reports are suggesting he could put pen to paper on a new deal, so it is hard to envisage Jesus arriving and playing second fiddle to the England captain.

We think Jesus would be a phenomenal backup to Kane, but it would make much more sense for him to move to Arsenal in order to play regular football.
