Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping an eye on a possible Djed Spence alternative this summer in the form of the Torino right-back Wilfried Singo.

This has been claimed by Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who discussed the Lilywhites’ interest in Singo on his latest YouTube video.

Reports suggest Spurs are still looking to add Spence to Antonio Conte’s options this summer, with the Middlesbrough wing-back rated at around £20m.

Italian outlets have suggested a possible double swoop from Spurs for the defensive pair of Gleison Bremer and Singo, with a possibility of the deals being worth in the region of €50m (£43.3m).

And Gold does believe Spurs have kept a close eye on the 21-year-old Torino star, who played a prominent role for the Serie A side last season (via Transfermarkt).

He said: “If he [Spence] were to go elsewhere, look, I mean, I think Spurs have always kept an eye on Wilfried Singo plays for Torino.

“I’ve mentioned him before, he’s a 21-year-old. He’s kind of an up-and-coming wing-back in Serie A. So yeah, I mean, might be working on him.”

TIF Thought on Gold’s comments…

We think this could certainly be an interesting alternative for Spurs should they fail to land Spence in the coming weeks, with Singo having first-team experience in one of Europe’s top-five leagues.

It is believed there are a number of big clubs also looking at Spence, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United also sharing an interest.

Singo had a similar return to Spence over the 2021/22 campaign with three goals and four assists for the Ivorian compared to Spence’s two goals and five assists in the league – which were albeit at a lower level, so that may also work in Singo’s favour should Spurs seek alternatives.
