Tottenham Hotspur could potentially look to use Davinson Sanchez in a potential swap deal for centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

This has been suggested by Alasdair Gold, who has been discussing the latest Spurs transfer news on his YouTube channel, with the Colombian centre-back’s future mentioned.

Gold believes Monaco are now showing an interest in the 26-year-old Spurs defender, amid reports of the north Londoners potentially being open to offers for Sanchez this summer.

Sanchez joined the Lilywhites back in 2017 for a fee in the region of £42m from Ajax and has gone on to make 180 appearances for the north London outfit.

Reports also suggest Spurs hold an interest in 6ft 4in centre-back Badiashile, who has already racked up a total of 119 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

And Gold does wonder whether Sanchez could be used as a possible makeweight in a potential move for the French defender.

He said: “Davinson Sanchez is an interesting one as well. I found out today [Wednesday] that Monaco have been showing interest in him over a prolonged period of time, so that potentially could be one to look at. And I do wonder when it comes to that, whether there’s any interest at all from Spurs looking at Benoit Badiashile.

“So if you’re not aware of who he is, he’s a 21-year-old centre-back, France U21 international, left-sided. Highly rated, really highly rated.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Sanchez has certainly had a difficult couple of campaigns at Spurs, with regular game time in the squad difficult to come by.

Should Spurs keep or sell Davinson Sanchez?

However, he did enjoy a good run in the side towards the end of last season, which saw him replace Cristian Romero when the Argentinian was sidelined through injury.

With this in mind, we think Sanchez could be a great option for Conte to have in his squad for the upcoming campaign, with Spurs needing a large squad full of quality as they return to the Champions League.
