Tottenham Hotspur are still yet to make an official proposal to Inter over the possibility of signing Alessandro Bastoni.
This has been suggested by reliable transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been discussing Tottenham’s transfer latest on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel.
Spurs have been heavily linked with the Inter defender ahead of the summer, having already taken left wing-back Ivan Perisic from the San Siro after his contract ran down.
Bastoni’s agent has come out and admitted to an Italian outlet (via Football Italia) that the defender is happy where he is at the San Siro, but alluded to the possibility of Inter needing to sell the 23-year-old this summer.
As it stands, Romano does not believe the north London club have put forward their offer to the Serie A club despite Bastoni being one of the players on their transfer wishlist.
He said: “So for sure, he’s a player that’s [on] Tottenham’s list. He will be a perfect signing for Tottenham, but as of now, from what I’m told, Inter are still waiting to see if there will be an official proposal from Tottenham.
“So the two clubs, as of today, they are not in negotiations. Inter are still waiting to see what happens, what kind of proposal there will be for Bastoni.
“The expectation here around Inter for the fans, they hope, of course, that Alessandro will not leave, but it depends on the proposal. So I think his agent was pretty clear also a few days ago.
“They’re waiting to understand how much Tottenham are open to spending on him.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
Reports have suggested there are no real concerns from Tottenham’s point of view with finding the money to fund a deal for Bastoni this summer.
Are you feeling confident Bastoni will join?
Yes
No
And with Inter reportedly having financial concerns, yet reportedly wanting to sign Gleison Bremer, we will be interested to see where Inter stand if a bid in the region of the believed £51m asking price is tabled.
Tottenham are believed to have other centre-backs on their radar, but we do feel as if Romano’s comments hint toward Inter being willing to offload Bastoni if the right proposal arrives.
I think it depends on how much we spend on other players as to whether or not we will come in for such a high price for Bastoni.
Can you believe this, Levy hasn’t even placed a bid yet, no wonder we lost out to the likes of Liverpool in the Diaz deal, Levy’s so slow he couldn’t catch a cold.
