Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp will be ready to ‘hit the ground running’ in pre-season following his injury recovery.

Back in April, Spurs confirmed that the young Englishman had undergone surgery in the United States to repair a pubis injury. It was claimed that he would hope to make a return to the team ahead of the new season.

In a fresh update for football.london, Gold has said Skipp will not only be ready to play a part in the club’s pre-season, but he should be able to take part and make a positive impact from day one.

In the article, he explained: “football.london understands that Oliver Skipp will be ready to hit the ground running for the first day of pre-season, adding to the numbers of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks.”

TIF Thoughts on Oliver Skipp and Spurs…

Before his injury, Skipp had become an integral part of the Tottenham midfield. Indeed, he had played in all but two of the club’s Premier League matches all the way up until late January when he suffered his setback (via Transfermarkt).

In fact, his form was so good, that Spurs decided to reward him with a new contract – running until 2027 – even while he was out with his injury.

After spending so long out, it may well take Skipp a little while to get himself back up to full fitness. This is why it’s great news that he will be able to work on getting himself match-ready by having a whole pre-season under his belt.

As Gold mentioned, Skipp will have to rival the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks for a spot in the team, and so he’ll want to impress manager Antonio Conte from day one when the summer break comes to an end.
