Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on The Done Deal Show that having Champions League football will have helped convince Yves Bissouma to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs appear to have stolen a march on several Premier League clubs this summer having agreed a £25m fee for Premier League-proven Bissouma, who is now set for a medical with the Champions League outfit later this week.
Bissouma will add steel, depth and competition to Tottenham’s midfield having won more tackles than any other Spurs player in the league last season and they appear to have won the race on this deal because of the fact they can offer Champions League football – something they only sealed on the final day of the season.
Jacobs believes that finishing in the top four has played a huge role in Bissouma wanting to join Spurs.

He said: “This combination of Champions League football, of injection of money from Daniel Levy, and the fact that Conte is clearly making his mark, are leading to a number of quick signings early in the window, and Kane won’t go anywhere and Son won’t go anywhere. I’m pretty confident in saying that, talking to Tottenham sources.
“If Tottenham hadn’t qualified for the Champions League, maybe a different story.”

At just £25m, it appears that Spurs could well have already pulled off one of the signings of the window by landing Bissouma, who is a Premier League regular with 124 appearances under his belt as well as a regular on the international scene.
Antonio Conte will now have a very difficult time when it comes to selecting his starting central midfielder this season, with the likes of Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp all seemingly fighting for a starting role.
