Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has been speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel about Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Jack Harrison.
Given some of the transfer links this summer, it appears that Tottenham are indeed looking to bring in a new winger despite having last season’s Golden Boot winner and a January recruit within their ranks out wide, but they are still being linked with the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Harrison.
While would likely cost the former close to £60m to tempt Newcastle United into selling their exciting French winger, it’s been reported that Harrison would only cost Spurs around half that, and for someone that’s managed 16 goals in his two full Premier League campaigns, that could be considered very good business.
That valuation could be why Thomas believes Spurs are still very much interested in the winger.
He said: “Jack Harrison at Leeds is one that they like a lot, for example. Again, he’s another young player to develop who can come in and sort of backup and challenge a little bit, and has that Premier League knowhow.

“I think he’s done well at Leeds despite their struggles, Jack Harrison, obviously an ex-Man City youth player, so he’s got that bit of pedigree about him as well; he’s one to mention.”

As Thomas alluded to above, Harrison, who has been called ‘explosive’, coming in would be a very good addition to the squad to bring competition and added depth to Spurs’ ranks, especially if they are wanting to be competitive in all four competitions this season.
The English winger would arrive as a dependable Premier League winger, with 25 goal involvements in his 71 appearances in the competition for Leeds, so it’s no surprise that Antonio Conte is interested and believes he would likely do a job within his squad – especially if they are to lose Steven Bergwijn this summer.
However, his end product could still do with some work, considering that last season he only managed to register a single assist in the Premier League despite featuring in 35 games, but Spurs perhaps wouldn’t expect him to be a top performer and regular in the starting lineup, so a squad role could be very good for him.
