Alasdair Gold has claimed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur will be interested in Lautaro Martinez.

Spurs had been heavily linked with a move for the Inter ace last summer, with reports even claiming they were willing to pay £60m for the Argentinian striker, but with Romelu Lukaku looking set for a move back to the San Siro, Martinez’s own future could be in doubt.

The striker only penned a new deal last year, which sees him tied down until the summer of 2026, so the Italian club will be able to command a hefty price if they do decide to move on Martinez, who’s certainly served them well, lifting three pieces of silverware and netting 74 goals in 180 appearances.

Gold has admitted that Spurs could well reignite their interest in Martinez this summer.

He said: “Inter are looking for money, and we know Conte likes him, and we know Paratici likes him as well, and we know that Spurs tried to sign him last year, but unfortunately couldn’t push it through because Inter then sold Lukaku and couldn’t sell both.

Would Martinez be a good signing for Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Obviously, he signed a new contract not long after that, but if he’s immediately being usurped – because you don’t bring Lukaku and Dybala in and not really play them very much – although obviously, Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku had a terrific partnership in the Serie A-winning season, so I’d be intrigued to see how Inter play that.

“And I know Spurs will certainly be sniffing around that situation, because it could be a scenario where they can get in there and surely try again.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

Considering that Inter would reportedly want a fee to total around £60-70 million, it would be a massive outlay for Spurs and would see them smash their current record transfer – though it would be for someone that’s a proven goalscorer in Italy and the Champions League.

Martinez’s ability to play through the middle, as a pair and also out wide would be hugely attractive to Spurs and Antonio Conte, who continue to search for someone that can be a sufficient backup for Harry Kane – and if Martinez can play in several roles, he could be the ideal player.
