Sky Sports presenter Joe Thomlinson has been speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel about what Lucas Moura is like behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur and why he shouldn’t be sold.

While Tottenham managed to finish inside the top four under Antonio Conte this season, they were massively helped by the collapse of Arsenal who lost two of their last three games of the season, so if they wish to solidify their spot inside the top four, additions and exits will be required.

They have already started this process by bringing in experienced international Ivan Perisic and the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Allan Saint-Maximin have been linked with following him through the door this summer.

However, it’s not all about arrivals, but some players will have to be moved on to free up wage and squad space, although 29-year old Lucas shouldn’t be one, for this reason, according to Thomlinson.

Who would you rather Spurs sell?

He said: “I think he’s a really influential figure in the dressing room. Whenever I go to Tottenham Hotspur, he’s always laughing, he’s always joking, everybody there loves him.

“He’s fourth in the squad for expected assists, he’s third for expected goals, he’s got third or fourth for shot-creating actions, dribbles, progressive carries – he is a fine impact player. Probably not a starter now that Kulusevski has come into the side, but a fine squad player.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

The Brazilian has now been at Spurs for four and a half seasons having arrived under Mauricio Pochettino and will always be very fondly remembered within the Tottenham fanbase for his memorable hat-trick to send them into the Champions League final.

Lucas has previously revealed how happy he is with life at Spurs, which may well have had a domino effect in terms of the future of Steven Bergwijn, who is attracting interest from Ajax and given the difference in age between the two wingers, it’s no surprise that Conte is more inclined to keep Lucas, than someone like Bergwijn, who at 24, will be itching to have regular starts.
