Journalist Michael Bridge spoke to This Is Futbol and claimed that he does not see Marc Guehi signing for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

There have been reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer, but with him joining the Eagles at the start of last season and he still has four years left on his contract, the fee would have to be huge.

Guehi impressed last season for Palace, he featured 35 times in the Premier League and his impressive performances were enough to earn him a call-up to the England national squad.

With Guehi leaving Chelsea for Palace last season, Bridge claimed that he does not see him leaving to join Spurs, especially with the clause in his contract that he has with Chelsea.

“Now, I need to check this but Marc Guehi, I think Chelsea have the right to match any bids any club receives in the future for Guehi. So, I don’t know.

“Well, I mean, they’ve just lost Christiansen and Rudiger Haven’t they? I mean, I think they’ve got a lot to do Chelsea, but I don’t see Spurs going for him this summer. Even if they do him, I can’t see it,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Spurs have already signed three players this transfer window, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, and Yves Bissouma, but they are still on the hunt for a central defender, as Ben Davies occupied the position last term, even though his natural position is at left-back.

They have been linked heavily with Alessandro Bastoni and Pau Torres, but there has been no confirmation of either player. Even though Guehi is someone highly thought of by Spurs, the deal looks unlikely, as he has had a good season with Palace, and might not be keen to leave after just one season.
