Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Fabio Paratici must sell players at Tottenham Hotspur this summer to avoid a ‘bloated squad’.

The Premier League outfit have already made some impressive moves in the transfer market this summer. Indeed, the likes of Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have all signed for the club ahead of next season.

However, with all these incoming, and potentially more to arrive, Spurs will also need to offload a number of unwanted players to help balance things out.

While writing about this for football.london, though, Gold explained that Italian media criticised Paratici for his inability to sell unwanted Juventus stars in the past, and so this could be an issue in north London too.

The journalist wrote: “One criticism from some in the Italian media during Paratici’s time at Juventus was a perception that at times he struggled to offload players.

“Tottenham need to get some players out of the door this summer, to further bolster their transfer coffers and prevent Conte from having a bloated squad with unhappy players in some departments.”

TIF thoughts on Fabio Paratici and Spurs…

Trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently announced that Spurs would look to sign three more players in the coming weeks – naming Djed Spence next, as well as a centre-back and a striker as the targets.

If that is the case, Paratici may well be tasked with selling a handful of players too. One Tottenham man who could be on the move to Everton is Harry Winks, so it will be interesting to see if that deal can be done.

On top of that Cameron Carter-Vickers was sold to Celtic earlier on in the summer, representing a good start to business for Spurs. Even so, there is much work seemingly left to do before Paratici can prove himself entirely.
