Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge has put an end to speculation regarding Paulo Dybala and a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentina international recently left Juventus, having failed to sign a new contract, after spending several years with the Italian giants. Now a free agent, he has been linked with a number of clubs, including Spurs, before Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the deal had ‘been called off’.

Bridge put an end to the speculation once and for all, telling GiveMeSport: “One player we can rule out is Dybala. I spoke to someone at Tottenham, and they said that ship has sailed. Dybala has had a lot of injuries in the last 18 months, and I would worry about his injuries in the Premier League.”

It is a damming reflection of Dybala’s downfall that Spurs – a club whose fans once dreamed of landing the Argentine – no longer see a place for him in their side. With that said, one thing that is a certainty this summer, is the forward’s need to get the next move right; he must get his career back on track. Do that, and he stands a chance at returning to the top.

TIF Thoughts on Paulo Dybala…

At his best, Dybala is one of the best around, but, constant injuries mean we rarely see him at his best these days. Nonetheless, last season, the ex-Juventus man still managed 15 goals and six assists in all competitions. Surely, at some point this summer, you would think that’d be enough to attract the right club.

As the summer continues and Champions League sides such as Spurs reportedly reject the chance to take Dybala on, the worry over his future will only increase. At 28-years-old, it’s starting to feel like now or never for the forward hoping to get his career back on the upward trajectory.
