According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur’s managing director Fabio Paratici is tracking the situation around Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have stormed into the summer transfer window with the signings of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, and Yves Bissouma so far. It looks like their business is going to continue as links have emerged to Roma star attacking midfielder, Zaniolo.

However, Romano claims while there have been no formal negotiations between the two clubs for him, he believes Paratici is tracking the player as Zaniolo has always been a favourite of the Spurs managing director.

Romano told Chris Cowlin, “Zaniolo is a player that has always been a favourite of Fabio Paratici. He has still to discuss a new contract with Roma, so at the moment is not a negotiation between Roma and Tottenham about the price of Zaniolo or a potential deal.

“But they just spoke about a player, but let’s remind Zaniolo is always a player Fabio is tracking so I would mention his name.” (4:58)

TIF Thoughts on Zaniolo to Spurs…

Zaniolo, who is a ‘dream’ signing for Tottenham and Antonio Conte, impressed last season as Roma won their first European trophy when they beat Feyenoord in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League and finished sixth in the Serie A in Jose Mourinho’s first season at the helm.

He picked up eight goals and nine assists in 42 appearances for the club last season while ranking in the 93rd percentile for total shots per game with 3.2, 90th for progressive carries received with 8.58 and the 81st for dribbles completed compared to attacking midfielders in Europe. (Fbref)

While there have been no talks between the clubs according to Romano, it is believed Roma are interested in Spurs defender Joe Rodon and therefore the North London club could end up suing this interest in a deal for Zaniolo, who would certainly improve Spurs next season.
