Steve Cooper is believed to be a huge fan of Premier League centre-back Joe Rodon ahead of the summer transfer window.

This is according to the reliable journalist Alasdair Gold who has been speaking about the 24-year-old’s future on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast.

Rodon has had a difficult time in north London having made the move to Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2020 from the Championship club, Swansea City.

With two seasons now to his name at Spurs, the Welshman has just 24 appearances across all competitions to his name with just five of those coming under Antonio Conte.

And ahead of the summer window, it is believed the 24-year-old may be moved on this summer, with Cooper believed to be a huge fan of his former player:

“Joe Rodon, I think we’ll see him move on. Be intrigued to see where he goes, I know [Steve] Cooper at Forest really likes him.

“Managed him at Swansea and obviously, as a Welshman, knows very well what he brings to that national team. So I’ll be intrigued to see whether Forest make that move this summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We think this could be a really good move for Rodon with the centre-back in clear need of regular first-team football with that not being the case at Spurs.

Would Rodon be a good signing this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

And Cooper has previous with his fellow countryman from their time together at Swansea where Rodon made 26 appearances across all competitions under the 42-year-old.

Although some Forest fans may be concerned by Rodon’s clear lack of game time, it is apparent this has not affected his spot in Wales national side and Gold clearly does not want to see him depart on a permanent deal.
