Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs that look like contending for the potential signing of Ben Brereton Diaz this summer.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with Blackburn Rovers last season, which saw him net 22 goals in the Championship across his 37 appearances.

However, he did suffer a ligament injury in his knee, which forced the £14.4m-rated ace to miss a chunk of game time towards the backend of the campaign.

It is believed a number of clubs are now chasing the signature of the Chile international, with Leeds United, Everton and Bournemouth some of the other names linked.

Noted insider ExWHUemployee has claimed his former side, Forest, are another club considering a move this summer for Brereton Diaz, as he spoke on The Transfer Show.

He said: “Interesting one that they’re also apparently keen on is a guy called – you’ll know him – Ben Brereton Diaz, who West Ham have been linked with massively.

“He actually started his career at Nottingham Forest; didn’t really set the world alight at Nottingham Forest. It was only when he went to Blackburn and the Chilean national team that he started to be a bit of a talent.

“And it looks like Forest are one of the clubs that could try and sign him and take him back to where it all started.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…

The Chilean striker – labelled a ‘beast‘ by former Rovers boss Tony Mowbray – certainly had an impressive campaign last season, however, there will certainly be question marks as to whether he would be able to convert a similar return in the top flight.

Adam Armstrong is a player who enjoyed life in the Championship who has been unable to replicate his fine form for Southampton in the Premier League.

On the other hand, Ivan Toney is an example of a player who has been able to do so, therefore, it is a question of how much of a risk Steve Cooper is looking to take this summer.
