Journalist Jordan Cronin has revealed on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel that Newcastle United ace Jonjo Shelvey wants first-team football next season.

Since Howe took over at Newcastle, Shelvey has only missed seven league games, which proves how crucial the manager thought he was to the success of the Magpies and that he was clearly a big part behind their meteoric rise up the table.

However, there’s been some suggestions that Shelvey may well be on his way out of Newcastle in the near future, with the 30-year-old having just one year left on his current contract with the Magpies.

Meanwhile, Cronin has claimed that Shelvey has told the club and Howe that he wants guaranteed first-team football this season.

Cronin said: “It’s an interesting one with Shelvey, because I’ve heard that he wants first-team football next season and I think out of the current midfield, he probably does just get in.

Would you want Newcastle to sell Shelvey?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“But Newcastle’s midfield is so well-stocked. Obviously, the star man now is Bruno – no one’s going to displace him, he’s levels above any of Newcastle United’s midfielders.”

TIF Thoughts on Shelvey’s future…

While there hasn’t been a load of speculation and talk about Shelvey’s future, it could be up for debate if he wants first-team football – and that’s something Howe might not be able to promise him, with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock younger than the midfielder and tied down for much longer.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

It would be a shame and slight shock for Shelvey to depart St James’ Park given he’s been with the club through the lows of relegation, while he has also recently spoken about how he wants to stay with the club during this promising new era and be part of something special.
