Andrew Musgrove has claimed on the Everything is Black and White podcast that Newcastle United will have to pay huge money for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Magpies appear to have encountered something of a transfer headache following the end of last season, with Callum Wilson showing people what he’s capable of and what the Magpies missed during his absence, with two goals in his last two starts.
Amid strong links to Hugo Ekitike, Newcastle are still being linked with moves for different strikers such as Calvert-Lewin and Victor Osimhen – although the latter pair have massive price tags on their heads of £60m and £85m respectively.
This is why, despite renewed talk of interest in Calvert-Lewin, Musgrove believes it would take a huge offer to tempt Everton into selling him.

He said: “It’s another interesting one, isn’t it? I think Everton and the fans and their owners, and probably Frank Lampard, will be looking at last season as a blip and they’ll be wanting to get back on a level footing with the teams like Newcastle, like Aston Villa, where I think Newcastle will be on par with.
“They’ll be looking, I think, in their mindset to break into that top 10 [and] rid the nightmare of last year, so I would think it would take an astronomical bid for Everton to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin.”

While Calvert-Lewin would arrive with plenty of pedigree and experience from his time playing for Everton in the Premier League, his most recent injury record may put the Magpies off splashing out on him, especially given his reported mammoth price tag.
However, that could well get lowered if the window nears a close and the Toffees are still struggling to raise funds for their own signings, so Newcastle may well have to play the long game if they wish to sign an international striker from one of their Premier League rivals.
