Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a great signing for Newcastle United this summer.
There have been reports stating that Newcastle United have held initial talks with Calvert-Lewin over a potential move to St. James’ Park this summer transfer window. The Magpies reportedly approached Everton at the start of last season over a potential move but nothing came of it.
Calvert-Lewin was not able to feature much last season due to injury issues, meaning he made just 17 appearances in the Premier League where he scored five goals, but he did score the crucial winner against Crystal Palace in the second to last game of the season to ensure top-flight safety for the Toffees.
With Newcastle reportedly being interested in Calvert-Lewin, O’Rourke spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that he is somebody who Eddie Howe is an admirer.
“He is somebody that Eddie Howe is a big admirer of so if Newcastle were able to do a deal for Calvert-Lewin, I’m sure he would be a big, big signing for Newcastle.
“I’m sure Everton will be working hard to try and convince Calvert-Lewin to stay at Goodison Park, but I think Calvert-Lewin, once he’s back to full fitness, could be a great signing for Newcastle,” O’Rourke said.

Newcastle United are on the brink of confirming their third signing of the summer transfer window, with a deal reportedly being agreed with Lille to sign Sven Botman. Matt Targett was the first signing of the window, so Eddie Howe will be keen to bolster the attacking options as well, now the defence has seen an upgrade.
Calvert-Lewin had a frustrating season last term, but the season prior, he netted 16 times in the Premier League, so if he was to get the right service and get back to this form, then he could be a great signing for the Magpies.
